I admit it, I’m a complete bookworm. I’ve got far more books than I have shelves, and I’m always on the lookout for more storage space for my piles of paperbacks. I absolutely loved the Anthropologie bookshelves when I saw them, but at over $1,000 dollars each, I reasoned that there was little point buying shelves when, in order to afford enough of them to house my collections, I’d have to sell the walls I intended to hang them on.
Then I got to thinking. Sure, the shelf came with a hefty price tag, but was the cost really a reflection of how difficult the pieces were to make? Surely someone in the blogosphere was tough enough to tackle this task?
A quick Google search for “homemade Anthropologie bookshelves” later, I was reading through Wholly Kao’s post on that exact subject. The tutorial is extremely thorough, so before you break the bank buying specialist shelves and the books that come with them, try making your own to give your current selection some breathing room.
